AI SEO services: be the name the answer mentions.
More buyers ask ChatGPT or read Google's AI summary before they click anything. Often only a few businesses get named, and the rest may as well not exist. Nobody can guarantee your name will appear, but you can make it much more likely. Here is what is proven, what is not, and what I actually do.

What is AI SEO?
AI SEO is the work of getting your business found, understood and named by AI tools like ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Perplexity. You may also hear it called GEO or LLM SEO. It rests on regular SEO, since these tools rely heavily on web search. It adds a stronger focus on direct answers, consistent facts about your business, and what other trusted sites say about you.
Most AI SEO advice is guessing. Here is my honest list.
This field changes monthly, and a lot of what is sold has no evidence behind it. Treat this as my current view, last updated October 31, 2026.
| Tactic | Evidence | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Rank well on regular Google | Well supported | AI answers often draw on pages already ranking in search |
| Answer questions directly and clearly | Well supported | Easy to quote, and also good for readers |
| Be mentioned on trusted sites | Well supported | Models and search tools both use these signals |
| Keep your business facts consistent | Sensible | It reduces mix-ups about who you are |
| Add FAQ and other schema | Mixed | Helps machines read your page, though it is not a magic switch |
| Add an llms.txt file | Unproven | Low cost, but no proven effect. Google says it does not use it for AI Overviews |
| Stuff pages with AI keywords | Harmful | Same old spam, with a new name |
AI does not rank you. It reads about you.
When someone asks an AI tool a question, it often runs web searches behind the scenes, reads several pages and writes an answer. It may then cite a few sources, which are usually pages that already do well in search.
So there are two ways to appear: your own page gets read and quoted, or other trusted pages mention you. That second route matters a lot. A roundup, a news story or a real Reddit thread can decide who gets named.
This also means thin AI-written content will not help you. These tools favor pages with something original to say, and they already have all the generic content they need.

How ready is your business for AI search?
Eight checks, with no email needed. For a real test, ask ChatGPT who it recommends in your field and city, and see who it names.

What I actually do each month.
Answer-first content
Clear, direct answers at the top of your key pages, so AI tools can lift and credit them.
Entity clarity
Consistent facts about who you are and what you do, across your site, Google profile, LinkedIn and directories.
Crawler access
Making sure the AI crawlers you want, such as OAI-SearchBot and PerplexityBot, are not blocked by mistake.
Schema that matches the page
Organization, service, product, FAQ and author markup that agrees with what people see on the page.
Brand mentions
AI tools lean on what others say about you. Reviews, press, Reddit threads and list articles matter here.
Visibility tracking
A fixed set of real buyer questions, tested across AI tools each month, so you can see the trend.
Measure first. Then change things.
- Pick the real questions
20 to 50 questions your buyers really ask, not just keywords.
- Record a baseline
What each AI tool says today, who it names, and which sources it cites.
- Fix the foundations
Crawler access, direct answers, schema and consistent facts.
- Earn mentions
Target the sources AI tools already cite in your field.
- Re-test monthly
Same questions, tracked over time. Single answers vary, so the trend is what counts.
What to expect, honestly.
Baseline done, foundations fixed. You can see what AI tools say about you, which is often a surprise.
Pages get cited more often for specific questions, starting with narrow ones.
Mentions on other sites start to show up in answers for broader questions.
AI answers vary from person to person, and traffic from them is still small for most businesses. It tends to be well-qualified, however.
Who should pay for AI SEO now, and who should wait.
You need this if
- Your buyers research before they buy, as in B2B, software, legal, medical or finance.
- You already rank well on Google and want the next edge.
- You have real expertise or data to share.
- Competitors already get named by AI tools, and you do not.
You do not need this if
- Your site does not rank on Google at all. Do regular SEO first. It helps both.
- You are a local trade where buyers just pick from the map. Local SEO matters far more today.
- Someone is selling you a guaranteed ChatGPT placement. That does not exist.
- You want quick, easily tracked sales. This is a slower, longer bet.
You can start on this this afternoon.
| Task | Do it yourself? | Why people hire it out |
|---|---|---|
| Ask AI tools what they say about you | Yes, it is free | Testing many questions every month takes time |
| Check robots.txt for blocked AI crawlers | Yes | It is easy to get wrong |
| Add direct answers to key pages | Yes | Knowing which questions matter takes research |
| Fix your business listings | Yes, but slow | It is tedious across many sites |
| Earn mentions on trusted sites | Hard | It takes outreach and PR |
This adds nothing new, and it risks a spam penalty on your whole site.
Answers vary, so test many times before you decide anything.
Check your CDN and security settings as well as robots.txt.
Most people still use search, and AI tools lean on search results anyway.
What I can show you and what I cannot.
I do not yet have a published AI visibility case study, so I will not show you one. What I can do is run your baseline, show you exactly what AI tools say about you today, and track it each month, so you can judge the results yourself. The regular SEO results on my case studies page are real, and they are the foundation this work rests on.
No "AI premium" on the invoice.
An AI visibility baseline, plus a full audit and 90-day plan.
Direct answers, schema, consistent listings and links on your key pages.
Every page covered, with content and more mentions, plus monthly tracking.
What changes the price
- How many questions and tools we track.
- How much content needs rewriting.
- How competitive your field is.
- Digital PR for bigger mentions is quoted separately.
